We’re excited to launch Ferocious Dog, a new label services sublabel from Trapped Animal. 

Planning, marketing, distributing and making a record is complicated, it takes trusted partners, a keen eye for detail, a brain for planning and a mind for orchestrating. 

Just dipping into this process once in a lifetime or once every few years as an independent musician is stressful. 

WE DO THIS ALL THE TIME! To us, it's not stressful, to us it's just another day. 

For incredibly reasonable fees we will help your album campaign and physical product be as brilliant as you are. 

As a grassroots label, we’re limited in how many full releases we can take on each year — we simply can’t take financial risks on everything we love. But we receive so many high-quality demos and hear from so many brilliant artists that we wanted to create a way to support more of you. Ferocious Dog is our answer: a flexible, transparent model for fiercely independent artists who want to stay in control while still getting experienced backup.

You pay for (some) of the services you use, and we’re transparent about what they cost. You stay in control — and if the release goes well, you’re the one who benefits most.
This model is designed for flexibility, clarity, and fairness. Whether you’re releasing your first record or your tenth, Ferocious Dog is about helping you do it better — without handing over your rights or your vision.
The Campaign Fee
There’s a flat campaign management fee — covering consultation, planning, and ongoing support. We can also bolt on other services like PR, picking and packing, web hosting, etc. — and we’ll always be transparent about what’s needed, what’s optional, and what’s good value.
This model flips the traditional one:
Instead of the label taking ownership because they take the financial risk, you are in control of what’s spent and when — and you keep more of the upside, with short contracts, bigger profit splits, and full ownership of your vinyl, CDs, masters (not tied up for years on contract or until recouped). You get the freedom to shape your release on your terms, with experienced support behind you and most importantly you are in control of your masters within a year of release.
