Sunday Driver 🇬🇧

Formed in 2001 Sunday Driver has spent the last 20 years working on their own special blend of fusion that sounds like no other. Pumpkins, spoons and cynicism.

Their 2011 song Mechanical Angel taken from second album The Mutiny has had over 2 million streams and continues to bring the band to new audiences. In 2014 the band released Flo, their first project with tabla maestro Kuljit Bhamra, a completely non-English language collection of songs. Songs from Flo were featured on BBC Radio 2 and Radio 3. The EP broke many boundaries for the band, taking their international audience into the heart of South Indian tradition.

‘Flo is the culmination of a lifetime of being exposed to traditional Indian songs at home, surrounded by varied and colourful languages that have merged together in my brain...’ Chandy – Sunday Driver

Third album Sun God is out July 15, 2022 on Trapped Animal Records.

Sun God draws influences from a rich plethora of literature, culture and fiction, from Hindu gods to HG Wells to the 1800s Gold Rush, fusing ideas together to create an expansive, cathartic and cohesive ‘Spaghetti Eastern’.

Weaving together multiple languages, genres and sounds, the record plays tribute to the band’s cultural background and, despite its storyline theme, highlights a very personal experience. With each song, lyrics are enhanced by infectious song-writing that takes you on a stereoscopic journey through the collective minds of one of the UK’s most unusual and creative bands.
