Miffed

Outsider, alt, psych, power trio Jemma Freeman and The Cosmic Something are the aural equivalent of a distorted photograph capturing the hinterland found between emotions and actions. Emerging like joyous sci-fi warriors, the songs either overtly or indirectly demonstrate solidarity with anyone that’s ever identified feeling off kilter with the rest of the universe and needed an equally wonky soundtrack to back it. An introspective, neurodivergent journey through psychedelic glam-rock nightmares, woozy flows of queer self- discovery and beguiling lyrics delivered with subtlety and intensity. Jem, Heidi Heelz (bass) and Jason Ribeiro (drums) are your astral guides in this strange country, illuminating a path, in reality they’re as lost as the listener. In this limbo, thoughts tumble on top of each other through twisted rhythmic guitar, bass, and drum lines that interchange and play with each other in a frenzied cosmic dance.

Following the release of their critically acclaimed 2nd album ‘Miffed’, and receiving an amazing level of support from Steve Lamacq of BBC 6Music, Brix Smith, John Kennedy (X Radio), Mojo, Uncut and Loud & Quiet Jemma Freeman & The Cosmic Something set out to ravage the UK stages of small and large venues as they take their intense live show and collection of mind bending heavy but beautiful songs on tour. They recently returned from Iceland after playing Reykjavik Arts Festival.

‘This album will destroy your mind and wipe all the bad away... Visceral' Brix Smith on Steve Lamacq's roundtable Oct 2022

‘A force for the future’ Mojo ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

‘An exercise in mischievous, galactic scale ambition’ Loud & Quiet Magazine ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Jemma’s solo material adds a fizzing energy and almost glam-stomp to proceedings, creating a sound that flips rapidly between lush guitar work and rapid fire energy, all topped by Jemma’s sonorous vocal, part Kate Jackson part PJ Harvey.” - For The Rabbits

Jemma Freeman & The Cosmic Something bring an artful mix of glam rock theatrics, spacious psych explorations and crunchy early PJ Harvey style alt rock.” - Joyzine
