The Bath

Regular price £19.99

‘The Bath’ sees New Yorker Emma Houton intertwine her experiences of religion with her deep love for Irish folklore in a deeply immersive sonic world that is as cathartic as it is haunting.

"Emma Houton has delivered one of the year’s most singular albums." - The Irish Times
"a hypnotic, beautiful and slightly eerie world...a magical introduction to a songwriter who isn’t quite like anyone else you’ve ever heard before." - For The Rabbits
“Brims with escapism and a sort of enchantment” - High Clouds

Composed after ethnographic study into her Irish folk song roots, and recorded as part of her senior thesis in experimental electronic music, Emma originally wrote The Bath as a piece for eight voices to be performed live. Due to the COVID pandemic, she ended up recording all eight parts alone in her childhood bedroom, mixing and producing it herself.
